Voucher 3I 2024: up to €8,000 for start-ups and innovative microenterprises
In the panorama of facilities for innovation, Voucher 3I 2024 represents a great opportunity for Italian start-ups and micro-enterprises wishing to protect and exploit their industrial inventions. Promoted by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT) and managed by Invitalia, Voucher 3I is designed to cover consultancy fees related to patenting.
What does Voucher 3I finance?
Voucher 3I allows companies to access professional services provided by industrial property consultants and lawyers registered in lists managed by the National Forensic Council and the Order of Industrial Property Consultants. Three services are covered, each with a contribution bracket:
- Patentability verification and prior art searches
Funded amount: €1,000 + VAT
This service allows you to determine whether your invention can be considered new and patentable, reducing the risk of potential conflicts with pre-existing patents. - Drafting and filing of patent application
Funded amount: €3,000 + VAT
Covers the costs of drafting and filing the patent application with the Italian Patent and Trademark Office. - Filing a national patent application abroad
Funded amount: €4,000 + VAT
Allows support for filing a patent application in foreign countries, claiming priority of a previous national application.
Who can benefit from the Voucher 3I?
- Innovative start-ups, registered in the special section of the Companies Register.
- Micro-enterprises, i.e., companies with fewer than 10 employees and an annual turnover not exceeding €2 million.
Available resources and aid limit
The programme has a budget of €9 million for the two-year period 2023-2024. The facility is granted in compliance with the “de minimis” regime, which imposes a maximum limit of €200,000 of state aid per company over a three-year period.
Deadline for submitting applications
The opening date for applications will be established by a directorial decree of MIMIT, which will also determine the detailed procedures for submitting applications through the portal of Invitalia, the managing body of the measure.
How to apply
Once the directorial decree has been published, interested companies will be able to submit their applications online through the Invitalia portal, specifying the type of service required and the consultant chosen, who must be included in the authorised lists. Resources will be allocated according to an automatic over-the-counter procedure until funds are exhausted.
